2/28: Faiges Falls Short of AC Bid

Senior Randy Faiges came up two wins short of a trip to Atlantic City on Saturday at the Region 6 Wrestling Tournament.  Faiges won his quarterfinal wrestleback bout by fall over Chris Zak of Jackson Liberty.  In the wrestleback semi, he was eliminated by Raritan's Cody Mooney, 13-3.

For the season, Faiges finished up at 31-6.

2/27: Faiges Falls In Region Quarters, Moves On To Wrestlebacks

Senior Randy Faiges dropped a 7-1 decision to Jackson Memorial's Derrik Russell (a 3-time Region medal winner) on Friday night and will now move into the single elimination Wrestleback bracket which begins tomorrow morning.  Faiges' opponent will be Chris Zak of Jackson Liberty.

2/21: Faiges Wins Title, Bischoff Named Coach of the Year at Districts!

Senior Randy Faiges picked up two pins, including one on the finals, and a major decision to cruise to a District 24 Title in the 130-pound weight class.  After recording a fall in Friday night's quarterfinal and a major in the semis, Faiges needed just 1:49 to pin Southern Regional's Jed Brown and claim his first District title.

Faiges will now move on to Friday night's quarterfinal round of the Region 6 Tournament.

Also advancing into the Region 6 Tournament will be freshman Jalen Ramos (103) and senior Tyler Nascimento (160) who both placed 3rd in their respective weight classes.  They will compete in Tuesday night's opening round of Regions at the Ritacco Center.  Ramos will be taking on Seth Rubel of Ocean Township, while Nascimento draws Middletown North's Mike Fish.

Head Coach Mike Bischoff was voted by his peers as the District 24 Coach of the Year.  Bischoff led the rebuilding Eagles to the B-South Division Title and the top-seed in the South Jersey Group 3 Tournament.

12/20: Central Takes 3rd At Kearney Tournament

Freshman Kalyph Hardy went 4-0 in his varsity debut to claim the 145-pound championship at the 2008 Kearney Tournament.  Jalen Ramos and Ed Ruhnke added 2nd places and Brandon Jaworski placed 3rd, as the Eagles had seven wrestlers in all place in the Top 6.

Central finished 3rd in the team standings, just 2.5 points behind co-champions St. Benedict's and St. Joe's of Montvale.
