Freshman Alex Reyes came one win away from becoming just the 2nd wrestler in Holmdel history to win a State medal, dropping a narrow 3-1 decision to Paramus Catholic's Edward Terreri in the Blood Round. He finished the season with 37 wins, the most for a freshman in program history.

It is believed that Alex Reyes is the first freshman in program history to qualify for the State Tournament. Reyes came from the 7th seed to finish in 2nd place, and gives the Hornets consecutive seasons with State qualifiers for the first time since 2018 & 2019. Reyes will head to AC already holding the mark for most wins in a season for a freshman at Holmdel
