Middletown South (2 Medal Winners)
Seniors Jack Zaleski and David Hussey closed out their careers on Saturday on the podium at Boardwalk Hall. It is the first time since 1993 that Middletown South has had multiple State medal winners in the same season, and brings their all-time total to 19 medalists.

For Hussey, he closes his career with his first State medal on his fourth trip. He adds the medal to a resume that includes 4 Region medals, including a 1st-place medal in 2022, 3 District Titles, and 105 career wins.

Zaleski's 3rd-place finish earned him his 4th State medal. He will go down as one of the all-time greats at Middletown South. He set a new program record for career wins with 133, was a 3-time Region Champion, a 3-time District Champion, and joins NJ wrestling legend Glenn Prtizlaff as the only 4-time State medalists in program history.

Jack Zaleski won his 3rd Region Title, joining Glenn Pritzlaff as the only two Eagles with more than 2 titles (Pritzlaff was a 4-timer). The title is South's 26 all-time, putting them in a tie with Manalapan for 5th most in Monmouth County history, and 11th most in the Shore Conference. Zaleski's win in the semifinals gave him 126 career victories, making him the winningest wrestler in the Middletown South history. Zaleski will be making his fourth trip to the State Tournament, where he has finished in the top 5 in each of his previous trips. Also making his fourth trip to States will be David Hussey, who will be aiming to close his career with his first State medal.

The canceled 2021 District season quite possibly cost seniors Jack Zaleski & David Hussey a chance to join Hall of Famers Glenn Pritzlaff & Blair Tugman as members of Middletown South's 4-time District Champion Club. Instead, the duo became the first Eagles' since Nick Herring in 2010-2012 to win 3 District Titles.
