3/8: DelleFave Wins 2nd State Title; Molzon Takes 4th
Senior Vinnie DelleFave put an exclamation mark on his stellar high school career on Sunday by defeating Paulsboro's Joe Duca, 4-3, in the ultimate tiebreaker to claim his 2nd straight NJSIAA Championship.
DelleFave, 38-1, buzzsawed through the competition on his way to the final scoring a pin, a tech fall, and an 11-4 decision in his first three bouts.
In the 119-pound final, with neither wrestler being able to score off the other from their feet, it came down to the ultimate tiebreaker. Having scored first, DelleFave elected to start on bottom and Duca was unable to ride him out as DelleFave scored the escape to make it back to back titles.
For his career, DelleFave finishes with a career mark of 145-7. A 2-time State champ, a 4-time State placer, a 4-time Region champ, and a 3-time District champ, DelleFave will continue his wrestling career next year at Rutgers University.
Also completing his high school career with a trip to the Boardwalk Hall podium was 152-pounder Justin Molzon. Molzon, 29-7, went 5-2 on the weekend, with both of his losses coming by one point to Southern's Frank Miele. Molzon's wins included a 9-5 win over undefeated Region 8 champion John Bakuckas of Hammonton, a pin in 1:30 over Region 4 champion Vin Maurillo of Nutley, and a pin in 2:36 over Region 7 champion Justin Pencook of Cinnaminson.
Molzon's finsihes with a career record of 112-23, 3 Region 6 medals and 3 District 24 medals, including a championship in 2007 while at Lacey.
Juniors Anthony Sherman (160) and Bryan Sternlieb (171) came up short in their bids for State medals. Sherman went 2-2 on the weekend to finish just one win away from a trip to the podium. Sternlieb was defeated in the opening round, 7-3, by George Goddiess of Hillsborough.
2/28: Molzon Wins 4th Region Title, East Advances 4 To Atlantic City
With his impressive 11-4 win over TR South's Mark Maestrey, Vinnie DelleFave joined Luke Skove, Vinnie Santaniello, Glenn Pritzlaff, Mark Worthy, and Frank Molinaro as the only wrestlers to win 4 Region 6 Championships.
With the win, DelleFave receives a 1st Round bye at the NJSIAA State Championships in Atlantic City. Joining DelleFave in AC will be fellow medal winners Justin Molzon (2nd @ 152), Anthony Sherman (3rd @ 160), and Bryan Sternlieb (3rd @ 171)

Vinnie DelleFave won his 3rd District title and Bryan Sternlieb won his 2nd as the Raiders had six medal winners in all on their way to finishing 6th as a team at the District 24 Tournament.

Bryan Sternlieb decisioned Anthony Saulle of Delran, a 3rd place finisher in NJ in 2008, by a score of 5-4 to claim the 171-pound title at the Hunterdon Central Tournament. Vinnie DelleFave won the 125-pound title, knocking of Hunterdon Central's Brian Bistis in the final by a score of 10-4. Both wrestlers were 4-0 on the day and improved their records to 8-0 on the year. Eight of Sternlieb's wins have come by fall.
