3/8: Labrusciano & Tancredi Win State Medals In AC
Seniors Frank Labrusciano and Mike Tancredi closed out their high school careers on a high note this weekend when the pair both wrestled their way to the Boardwalk Hall podium to claim their first state medals.
Labrusciano was the lone wrestler from the Shore to medal at 135 pounds winning three matches to take 6th place. Tancredi also won three matches on the weekend to finish in 8th place at 140 pounds. Both wrestlers finished the season with identical 33-8 records.
Labrusciano ends his high school career with a final record of 123-34. He was a 4-time District runner-up and a 2-time Region medal winner to go along with his 6th place State finish this season.
Tancredi finished up with a 111-40 record. He was a 4-time District medal winner (champion in 2008), a 3-time Region medal winner, and two-time State qualifier.
Congratulations to both wrestlers on outstanding careers.

12/20: Wall Wins Perry Hall Big 20 Tournament
Frank Labrusciano (135) and Dave Janssen (215) won individual titles, Mike Tancredi (140) finished 2nd, and four other Wall wrestlers finished in the Top 4, as the Crimson Knights finished 1st as a team at the 2008 Perry Hall Big 20 Invitational in Baltimore County.
Labrusciano, who placed 3rd here last season, scored a 4-0 decision over DeMatha Catholic's Kyle Haden (4th place in Maryland State's a year ago) to win the 135-pound crown. Janssen decisioned Taylor Gload (5th in his Region last season) of Hereford, 3-2, to win the 215-title.
In the 140-pound final, Tancredi went down to the wire with one of the top wrestlers in the state, Jeremy Seipp of North Carroll. Seipp, a three-time Maryland State Medalist, edged Tancredi 3-2.
Freshman Steve Biserta (103), sophomore Andrew Marr (189), and senior Wes Hebrew (Hwt) wrestled their way to 3rd place finishes, while junior Brad Woszczak (171) took 4th.
